Le Havre is a port city located at the mouth of the Seine River, on the English Channel in the Upper Normandy region of France. The name "Le Havre" translates to "the harbor" in English. Historically, Le Havre has always served as the harbor for Paris, with goods being transferred there between ocean-going vessels and barges that travel to Paris via the Seine River. Le Havre was heavily bombed during the Battle of Normandy. The town's reconstruction was led by August Perret, who used reinforced concrete. This project resulted in the city being added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
