Keelung, officially known as Keelung City, is a major port city in the north-east of Taiwan. It borders New Taipei, and together with New Taipei and Taipei it forms the Taipei–Keelung metropolitan area. Nicknamed the “Rainy Port” for its frequent rainfall and maritime role, the city is Taiwan’s second-largest seaport, after Kaohsiung. Keelung has a humid subtropical climate. It has long been known as one of the wettest and gloomiest cities in the world, an effect linked to the Kuroshio Current. Although it is one of the coolest cities in Taiwan, winters are still short and mild, while summers are long, relatively dry and hot. One of the most popular festivals in Taiwan is the mid-summer Ghost Festival. The Keelung Ghost Festival is among the oldest in Taiwan, dating back to 1851, following bitter clashes between rival clans that claimed many lives before mediators intervened.

Miyako Island is the largest and most populated of the Miyako Islands in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. It lies about 400 km east of Taipei, Taiwan. With an area of 158.70 km², Miyako is the fourth-largest island in Okinawa Prefecture and the 22nd-largest in Japan. Miyakojima is renowned for its natural beauty, particularly Higashi-hennazaki (the Eastern Cape), which many consider one of the most beautiful places in Japan. Other highlights include Maehama Beach, the German Cultural Centre, Painagama Beach, and various attractions on Irabu-jima. Three nearby islands are connected to Miyako by bridges: Irabu-jima, Ikema-jima and Kurima-jima. The Miyako language, one of the several Ryukyuan languages, is spoken on the island. Miyako Airport is the island’s only airport, while on Irabu Island, which is linked by road, Shimojishima Airport is located.

The area around Shinjuku Station has a high concentration of electronics shops, shopping centres such as Odakyu, cinemas, restaurants and bars. Many international hotel chains have a branch in this district, particularly on its western side. Shinjuku has the highest proportion of registered immigrants of any district in Tokyo.

Shanghai is a modern city situated just south of the mouth of the mighty Yangtze River and divided in two by the Huangpu River. It's one of China's largest metropolises and is considered the most cosmopolitan, sophisticated and progressive city in mainland China. Shanghai is a great place to visit if you want to get a glimpse of China's future. A whole new city of skyscrapers has been constructed in its Pudong district, including the Oriental Pearl Tower, which has become one of the city’s landmarks and is one of the tallest structures in Asia, and the Shanghai World Financial Centre, the third largest building in Asia and the world. On the west side of the Yangtze River is the Puxi area, the older central part of the city. Puxi has a rich history and it's here where you'll encounter many of the city’s old buildings and attractions, such as the French Concession, the Bund, the Yuyuan Garden, the Jiu Qu Bridge, the Huxin Pavilion and the Temple. Shanghai is China’s cosmopolitan hub of finance and culture. Shanghai has a special oriental charm and a fresh western style that appeals to everyone. And it's also a good base to explore the more rural and classical sights of nearby Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.
